| Sorry dudes - I didn't realize that, even with my photos set to "public," myspace still requires you to have registered for a myspace account to view my photos! Arggh. I seriously loathe that website and nearly everything it stands for - it's only redeeming value is having reconnected me with a dozen or so people that I'd been out of touch with for years, and for that reason, I resist the urge to close my account never to return. Anyway, I realize now that the link to new photos (two posts ago) is worthless to those of you who don't have myspace. So I've uploaded all (I think) of those same photos to xanga for your viewing pleasure. Check 'em out here. And hey, now I can link other people who don't have myspace OR xanga to this album and, viola, they'll be able to view it! Thanks, xanga, for being so, oh I dunno, sensible! NOT coercively exclusive! Cheers for that. By the way, we're off to North Carolina for another week with Gloria's family before her mom returns to the classroom August 6th. I find it shocking that summer break is now basically from the first or in some cases second week of June until the end of July. Not even two months for a lot of kids, and usually a week or more less than that for teachers - just wrong, I tell ya. Anyway, looking forward to a good time with them. I'll try to post a video of Andrew's baptism in the coming weeks, and some new photos, too. P.S. I know nostalgia for the music of one's teenage years is never cool, but MAN I forgot how much I like this STP album. Seriously one of the best rock albums of the '90s. "duh-duh, duh-duh, duh-duh, duh-duh, duh-duh, duh-duh, Flies in the Vaseline we are, sometimes it blows my mind, keep gettin' stuck here all the time...Yeeeeeah. Rock" (he says in his best Beavis voice). | | |
| It doesn't take long before I begin to realize, or remember rather, what a strange and wonderful place the Bible Belt is. Two very different signs - literal signs: one a big huge billboard that is actually displayed several places around town, and one a tiny hand-written thing on a telephone pole I drove past - have helped remind me why I love the South, and why it's so particularly invigorating, if constantly infuriating, to pursue the task of theological thinking in such a fascinating cultural climate. The billboard: HAVE YOU BEEN BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS? MySoulQuestions.com (seriously, check it out...ahhh, our Pentecostal cousins, God love 'em...) The small sign: BECOME A NINJA - CALL XXX-XXXX. *Sigh* I know it's home and all, but I sometimes feel like I've fallen asleep only to find myself waking in some strange, surreal non-sense world. Although I can't say I wasn't tempted by that invitation to become a ninja. I confess I've always wanted to be a ninja. | | |
| * Hull interview went well. * Didn't get the job. * Andrew's baptism was beautiful. * Move out was hell. * Flights were okay. * Nice week in North Carolina. * Back in Nashville, but briefly. * Uncles and Aunts love Andrew. * So do all his grandparents. * Trip to Ohio and Indiana. * Andrew charmed his great-grandparents. * Nashville again, for a bit. * Loved ones jazzed we're home. * Us, less so, but coping. * No job means no insurance. * No idea what happens next. * Tired of explaining it all. * New photos posted here. | | |
| Obviously, this is my new favorite amongst Andrew's wardrobe. Thanks, auntie Gwen!
He seems to like it, too! That's my boy! | | |
